entomology
RESEARCH & COLLECTIONSThe Entomology Section was added to the Museum in 1974. It houses a collection of over 4,000 insect specimens. The majority of these consist of butterflies, moths and termites. It houses the largest termite collection in Zambia. Research is currently focussing on the pollinator ecology of butterflies and beetles, as well as the acquisition of more specimens across the country to expand the collection, which has great potential in a tropical country with high biodiversity. The section looks forward to the enhancement of public engagement by embracing applied entomological topics and partnering with institutions in this area.
